Upcoming Gigs, the BC Bestseller List, and Mystery Writing classes

Sunset and Jericho has been on the BC Bestseller list for five weeks, squeaking on there the week before its publication. Thank you to everyone who’s picked it up. (And it’s never too late…)

I’ll have news on the series soon. Good news, I think. And I can’t wait to see what people think of the ending to Sunset and Jericho.

Thursday May 18th I’m in Victoria for Noir at the Bar, alongside Tara Moss, JT Siemens, SM Freedman, and host Magnus Skallasgrimsson, among others. 7:30 at the Argyle Attic, 777 Courtney Street, Victoria.

I will also be dropping in that day to sign books at the legendary Munro’s Books at some point, if they’ll have me.

May 30th I’m back in Vancouver at the Mount Pleasant Library in conversation with Eve Lazarus about Sunset and Jericho and Eve’s latest true crime book, Cold Case BC.

Vancouver Crime: Fact and Fiction: 6:30-7:30 Tuesday May 30th.

June 2-4th I’ll be in Toronto for MOTIVE, a mystery writing festival including Anthony Horowitz (Magpie Murders), Amy Stuart (Still Mine), and other authors I’m a fan of.

My event with Dietrich Kalteis is June 3rd at 11:30am, “A Tale of Two Cities.” It will be “the best of times” (that will likely be the only time that joke is ever made…)

June 6th I’m back in Vancouver at Book Warehouse Main Street along with Charlie Demers (Noonday Dark) and Robert Chursinoff (The Descendents), and Aaron Chapman (Vancouver Vice).

Beautiful and Brutal BC: Tuesday June 6, event at 7pm.

I’ll be on upcoming episodes of Spies Lies and Private Eyes with Terrence McCauley, and the Made in BC Book Club with Peter McCulley.

Mystery Writing Classes:

For the summer, the Mystery Writing Masterclass is $125 and the Noir Short Story is $40. I put these online, work-at-your-own pace courses on sale until August. Both classes include video lessons, worksheets, examples with discussions, and some new content I’d added over the last year.

I’d love to do another in-person seminar soon, but for now, these classes include everything I know on writing and publishing mystery novels (MWM) and writing noir short stories NSS). Once enrolled, you can submit exercises for feedback, ask questions, and get notes on your work.
